Beauchemin family Image of the exterior of Charleswood School in Manitoba. The school was built in 1914 and was first called Beauchemin School after Jean Baptiste Beauchemin, who donated the land for the school. Due to some vandalism, Mr. Beauchemin said the school could be called Charleswood to prevent more vandalism. The school was on the site where the Legion now stands. In 1945, due to an increase in school population, municipal activities were temporarily carried out from the Oddfellows Home, prior to a permanent site being established for this purpose at 5000 Roblin Boulevard

Streetcars were first introduced on Christmas Day in 1908. The service was every half hour, which later changed to hourly. Even though there were few passengers, the streetcars were operated by two people, a Motor Man in charge of the car, and a Conductor who collected the fares. One-person-operated-streetcars came into effect in 1924 and were replaced by buses in 1935. The sign on the building reads "Real Estate". One of two copies, also see File:Kelly's General Store, with streetcar in front, 1909-2.jpg.
